“For the third year, a hybrid war has been waged against Ukraine, one of the components of which is information intervention. The spread of pro-Kremlin propaganda is so systematic and powerful that European countries have felt its threats in recent years,” Ukrainian censors assure.
Officials also stated that the Dozhd TV channel violated Ukrainian legislation, in particular the second part of Article 6 of the Law of Ukraine “On Television and Radio Broadcasting” (the use of television and radio organizations to call for war, aggressive actions or their propaganda is not allowed).
Also, in some TV channel programs, according to the regulator, part one of Article 28 of the Law of Ukraine “On Information” is violated (“information cannot be used to call for the overthrow of the constitutional order, violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, propaganda of war, violence, cruelty, incitement of interethnic, racial, religious hostility, committing terrorist acts, encroachment on human rights and freedoms”).
Let us remind you that Freedom House called the regulator’s decision “censorship.” The Committee to Protect Journalists called for the ban to be lifted immediately.
