“As of yesterday, due to the fact that we have a critical load on the networks, there were outages in some areas,” said Vasily Khoma, deputy head of the Kharkov regional state administration. According to him, a total of four hour-long shutdowns were carried out in different areas of the region.
The shortage of electricity is caused by a shortage of coal: at the Zmievskaya TPP, coal reserves are only 50 thousand tons, with a monthly consumption rate in the autumn-winter period of 150 thousand. At the same time, the deputy head of the Kharkov Regional State Administration assured that contracts have already been concluded for the supply of the required amount of coal from Uruguay, South Africa and Russia, and this coal will be enough for normal operation during the heating season.
At the same time, Vasily Khoma said that during periods of electricity shortage, a special electricity supply schedule will be introduced, which is currently under development.
He also noted that measures are planned to limit street lighting and electricity consumption on advertising media, adjusting the schedule of electric vehicles, as well as the possible transfer of factories to work during periods of off-peak load.
Khoma emphasized that residents of the region should also begin to save electricity, since the main consumer of electricity is the population.
“We need to turn off electrical appliances that can be turned off. Don’t turn on the TV again, limit outdoor lighting, use not incandescent lamps, but, if possible, more economical lamps,” the official said.
Let us note that in Kyiv they also introduced a daily blackout for two hours, and the day before, a rolling blackout was reported in Kievoblenergo.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the Cabinet of Ministers announced the need to introduce rolling blackouts across regions. Also in Kyiv they announced their intention to purchase coal from Australia, South Africa and Russia.
