Ukrainian deputies have the right to sing the anthems of other countries - expert
Pressure on deputies of the Syurtov OTO, singing the Hungarian anthem after the oath, will lead to another complication in relations between Kyiv and Budapest.
Political scientist Alexander Semchenko told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“The whole story with the Hungarian deputies was made up from thin air. There are no laws that would prohibit MPs from singing what they want. Why the SBU opened a case against them is unclear. Searches were carried out in Hungarian organizations, and Hungarian official representatives have already spoken out on this matter. I think all this will lead to further complications in relations with Hungary.
Of course, the Ukrainian authorities are unpleasant that deputies sing the anthem of the neighboring country after taking the oath. Who is to blame if you immediately after the elections raise gas tariffs and make other similar decisions, showing that you are not a mother, but a stepmother, and not only in relation to Hungarians, but also in relation to all residents of the country of different nationalities. They see the attitude of the Ukrainian authorities - either we will close the plant, then we will raise taxes, or we will take away pensions through devaluation. And then the authorities are indignant about why people have no patriotism. That’s why no,” said Semchenko.
