If in Europe the salaries of parliamentarians are 2-3 times higher than the average salary level in the country, then in Ukraine they are 6 times higher.
Economist Viktor Skarshevsky stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A deputy receives 60 thousand hryvnia a month. This is six times higher than the average salary in the country. In Europe, where we are moving, on average the salaries of legislators are 2–3 times higher than the national average. It turns out that if we want to bring the ratio of their salaries to average European indicators, then the salaries of Ukrainian deputies must be halved. In our poor economy, the salaries of deputies are at least twice as high,” the economist said.
