First Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko reported this on her blog.
According to her, money will be allocated for trips of relatives to prisoners, legal and targeted assistance.
“The 2018 budget will provide for funding for legal assistance to the families of political prisoners of the Kremlin (lawyers, transportation costs for families going on a date or trial), this will be included in the budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. And targeted and legal assistance to the families of hostages (primarily civilians) in the occupied territories (through the Ministry of Transport and Defense). And the Ministry of Transport and Defense will finally have an appropriate department for legal assistance to the families of hostages. My amendment to the 2018 budget was supported yesterday by the Verkhovna Rada and voted for it; the government, including the prime minister, also supported it,” Gerashchenko said.
