Ukrainian roads have become the worst in the world
Due to insufficient funding, proper repairs of Ukrainian roads are not carried out.
Public Audit analyst Maxim Kotenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the need for financing road repairs is about 75 billion hryvnia annually for 20 years, while 2014 billion were allocated for this in 2017-34,4.
It was also said that officials’ statements about huge volumes of road repairs do not correspond to reality.
“Groysman states that in 2017, colossal work was carried out on the reconstruction of roads - 2 thousand kilometers. I was not lazy, opened the Ukravtodor report and counted these roads - 900 kilometers were done. Where did he find another thousand? Perhaps he took it out of local budgets,” says the expert.
He added that the amounts allocated for roads are increasing, but the devaluation of the hryvnia is “eating up” the funding.
“It’s not for nothing that they say that we are in the worst place on roads in world rankings,” Kotenko concluded.
