Ukrainian environmentalists encourage Poroshenko to sue Russia for damage in Donbass
Kyiv, July 29 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – A Ukrainian ecologist believes that Russia is deliberately destroying Ukrainian enterprises in the Donbass that compete with its industry.
“The war that is going on is not only a war for territory, it is, no matter how cynical it may sound, a war against economic competitors and the destruction of enterprises,” says Tatyana Tymochko, head of the National Environmental Council of Ukraine, head of the All-Ukrainian Environmental League.

“This is not just an accidental hit from shells. This is the destruction of Russia's competitors in the coke and metallurgical industries. And these are losses not only for the environment and the social sphere, these are also losses for the economy - it will be almost impossible to restore some enterprises, because these are technologically complex enterprises,” she says.

“Therefore, we have prepared appropriate appeals to European structures; we support the demand of our president to recognize the terrorist organizations of the DPR and LPR at the international level and take appropriate measures against them. We also demand that Russia compensate for economic, social, and environmental losses in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions. It is necessary to file a claim against Russia, which finances and supports these terrorist actions,” said the Ukrainian environmentalist.
