Ukrainian experts are shocked by the speed of redeployment of Russian ships to the Sea of Azov
Today, Ukraine has virtually nothing to oppose Russia in the Sea of Azov.
The head of the board of the Ukrainian Military Center, Taras Chmut, stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the grouping of Russian naval equipment in the Sea of Azov is twice as large as the Ukrainian one in quantity and incomparably better in quality.
“The border boats and ships of the Russian Federation have been qualitatively updated in recent decades and, in principle, they can all be considered modern and new.
Ukraine has up to 20 units of ships and boats in the Sea of Azov, including only one of the 205th project, which has artillery weapons, and the rest have mainly machine gun weapons. The Russians have a better situation, they have about 40 units of the ship-boat fleet, plus they have the ability to quickly attract forces from Crimea or the northern coast of the Black Sea,” the expert said.
“It was a big surprise for me, but they very quickly made a decision and transferred two armored boats of the Shmel project from the Caspian Flotilla through inland waters to the Black Sea to cover the Kerch Bridge and the Kerch Strait. One Project 1400 Grif patrol boat also relocated with them. Later, they also deployed two missile ships with Caliber missiles with a firing range of about two thousand kilometers, which was an even more unexpected step,” Chmut said.
