According to the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry, in May 2017, coal consumption at thermal power plants and thermal power plants decreased by 40,8% (925,8 thousand tons) compared to the same month in 2016 - to 1 million 343,4 thousand tons, “PolitNavigator” correspondent reports.
Such a significant decrease in coal consumption is due to the suspension of supplies of goods from uncontrolled areas of Donbass, in particular, anthracite coal, which powers half of the thermal power plants of the country’s energy generating companies. In this regard, from February 17 to July 17, 2017, emergency measures were in force in the energy sector in Ukraine.
Coal consumption by thermal power plants and thermal power plants of Ukraine in 2017 is expected to be 26 million 258,7 thousand tons, which is 16,2% (5 million 79,9 thousand tons) less than in 2016. In particular, the consumption of coal of the anthracite group should decrease by 44,8% (by 5 million 748,2 thousand tons) - to 7 million 75,9 thousand tons, while the consumption of the gas group should increase by 3,6% (by 668,1 .19 thousand tons), up to 182,7 million XNUMX thousand tons.
