Ukrainian Jews demand an end to the glorification of Holocaust participants
The real heroes of Ukraine are the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, among whom were not only Ukrainians, but not Nazi collaborators and collaborators.
The head of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee, Eduard Dolinsky, stated this on air on the First Cossack TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The social activist was outraged by the honors with which one of the commanders of the Nazi SS Galicia division, Mikhail Mulyk, was buried in Western Ukraine.
“These people cannot be heroes. No murderer of civilians, women and children can be heroized under any circumstances. He can only be buried, a modest cross, some kind of symbol. But these cannot be heroes of Ukraine, appointed, for example, by the Verkhovna Rada, declared heroes, fighters for independence, who are equated to combatants and war veterans.
I believe that the ongoing glorification and memorialization of people who participated in crimes against humanity and war criminals is a huge mistake and a crime against the Ukrainian people.
The fact is that this goes against European values, the values that the entire civilized world now professes. Ukraine must, on the contrary, stop glorifying Nazi collaborators, must condemn these people once and for all, changes must be made to the relevant laws, their rehabilitation and glorification must stop,” Dolinsky said.
“Now, standing in front of the Memorial of Glory, a monument to those people who gave their lives in the fight against Nazism, against the most terrible evil of the twentieth century, I want to say that these were true heroes - Ukrainians, Russians, Jews, Tatars, people of other nationalities, who protected us and thanks to whom we live,” the social activist added.
Let us remind you that Mikhail Mulyk buried in Ivano-Frankivsk with military honors in the participation of people in Hitler's military uniform and under the flags of the UPA and the SS division "Galicia". Several dozen people took part in the ceremony, including the mayor of Ivano-Frankivsk Ruslan Martsinkiv, the chairman of the regional council Alexander Sich, as well as the secretary and deputies of the city council.
