Brexit will cause a weakening of the European Union, which could lead to weakening support for Ukraine in Europe.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Kyiv magazine Focus by Vladimir Gorbach, a political analyst at the Institute of Euro-Atlantic Cooperation, commenting on the possible negative consequences for Ukraine of the British referendum on leaving the EU.
“The main negative aspect of the referendum results is the weakening of the European Union,” the expert believes. – Ukraine really needs his consolidated position to confront Russia. Who did we rely on? Towards a united Europe. And now its unity has cracked. And there is a threat that this crack may go further and that such referendums will be repeated in other countries. The balance of power within the European Union itself on the issue of assistance to Ukraine and sanctions against Russia may also change not in our favor, because the position of Great Britain has been consistently pro-Ukrainian.”
“And one more thing: the EU is now entering the period of solving internal problems,” Gorbach added. “All his resources, attention, and time will be directed toward Britain’s exit. There will be less attention and time for resolving external conflicts, including the Ukrainian-Russian one in Donbass. The EU extended sanctions against Russia for another six months, but the likelihood that they will be extended further is not as high as it was before. In other countries, Eurosceptics may come to power, hold similar referendums, and the balance of power may change.”
