“Moskovsky Komsomolets” asked Ukrainian citizens who came to Moscow to work what they thought about their politicians’ initiative to abolish the visa-free regime with Russia.

“I don’t care what Parasyuk and others like him think about me. Until 2014, I lived in Lugansk. When the war started, I realized that there was nothing more to do there and I needed to escape. There were only two options: to Ukraine, where I had no friends or relatives, or to Moscow, where my mother lives. So the choice was obvious; it is unlikely that anyone would voluntarily agree to live in a camp for displaced people. A couple of weeks ago I was in Lugansk, visiting the few relatives and friends who remained there. Within a couple of days, I became convinced that my decision to leave was correct,” says Alexey, 30 years old, sales manager.
“Poroshenko and his entourage are enemies of Ukraine. Every decision they make is directed against their own people. People come to Russia to find work and feed their families. It’s difficult, of course, but this is at least some way out. Is it their fault that there is no place for them in Ukraine? If Ukraine leaves the CIS and introduces a visa regime with Russia, Poroshenko will have to answer for this to the people; it will be impossible to tolerate. I myself want to renounce Ukrainian citizenship, I no longer need it. In recent years, I have increasingly visited my relatives in Moscow and now I want to stay here forever. This is very difficult, officials, both Russian and Ukrainian, create a lot of problems out of nowhere, but I hope that everything will work out for me,” Ilya Aleksandrovich, 73 years old, pensioner, expresses his opinion.
“Now I’ll go home to Nikolaev. I hope that all the talk about the visa regime with Russia will turn out to be just another nonsense of our authorities,” emphasizes handyman Alexey, 27 years old. – We are very tired of all this. There is no work, no prospects, only the oligarchs are dividing the country among themselves, and Moscow is blamed for all the troubles. I think that if, as a result of their policy, we have to obtain permission to enter Russia, Poroshenko will not be able to remain at the head of state for even one year. An uprising will arise and it will simply be swept away.”
