Ukrainian cities are turning into deserted territories
Melitopol, Zaporozhye region, which is located next to the war zone in Donbass, has been almost half empty in recent years.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Yevgeny Balitsky stated this on the NewsOne TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the politician, the population does not believe in the future of Ukraine and is leaving the region en masse.
“We are 100 kilometers away from a military conflict. We are watching “Russia 24”, we will get to the point where where Ukraine is today, there is a Ukrainian flag... Today we are a territory that will not understand when shells start exploding here, this does not allow us to develop, people are leaving us, from our territory. People are leaving, 40% of us have left. They don't believe in their country. So that we can believe, so that children can live in our country, we must give them peace,” Balitsky said.
He previously stated that the population of Melitopol leaves mainly to work in Russia.
As he wrote "Reedus"According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin, about one million people leave the country every year.
