This was reported on the website of the Ministry of Defense.
“The holding of the Zapad-2017 exercise on the border with Ukraine is a threat to which we will adequately respond,” the Ministry of Defense quotes Poltorak.
He noted that the country will be ready to “repel possible aggression against Ukraine.”
“The upcoming Zapad 2017 exercise, which the Russian Federation plans to conduct, is extremely powerful. They can be used to launch aggression not only against Ukraine, but also against any European country that has a common border with Russia. The NATO Secretary General spoke about the threats they see and said that NATO in Eastern Europe will be strengthened. Of course, for our part, we also adequately respond to the exercises,” the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense emphasized.
Previously, the Department of State Security and the Second Department of Operational Services under the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania prepared a report on threats to national security; they saw a particular danger in the Zapad-2017 exercises.
Recall as “PolitNavigator” already reported, The Belarusian Foreign Ministry recently reprimanded the Ukrainian ambassador to that country, Igor Kizim, in connection with his statements regarding the Slavic Brotherhood 2017 exercises. A Ukrainian diplomat said the exercises are a “threat” for Ukraine. It seems that official Kyiv is again stepping on the same rake, only now performed by an official of a higher rank - not an ambassador, but a minister.
