This was reported by the Kyiv-based grant-eating Institute of Mass Information, one of the sources of funding of which is grants from the Soros Foundation.
“According to the IMI study, the overwhelming majority of materials about the Ukrainian government (87%) in the media subject to analysis turned out to be negatively colored, 13% of materials were neutral, and no positive materials were found at all. Most of the materials of a neutral nature were devoted to the activities of People’s Deputy Nadezhda Savchenko,” the message says.
The report also notes that in general, about 20% of the news on local websites of the DPR and LPR is devoted to the authorities of the republics, while there are more materials about the Ukrainian government - 32% of news.
It is also noted that on average 8% of news is devoted to information about the activities of the Russian government, and the overwhelming majority of it is also covered positively (91% of news), 9% of materials were neutral, and there were no negative or critical materials.
From these data, IMI experts draw a unique conclusion. In their opinion, in a situation where the LDPR media criticize the Kyiv authorities, holding the elections provided for in the Minsk agreements in Donbass is “decidedly impossible.”
The 8 most popular Internet sites of the DPR and LPR were subject to monitoring. The study was conducted by IMI experts during January-February 2017. A total of 2097 news items published between January 18 and January 25, 2017 were assessed.
