Ukrainian lawsuits in The Hague against Russia fall apart
The “big case” of legal claims that Ukraine brought against Russia in the arbitration court in The Hague on charges of “aggression”, etc. is falling apart. Kyiv cannot present a consolidated position and substantive evidence of Russia’s guilt.
The former representative of the “President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea,” international lawyer Boris Babin, stated this on the Dom TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Babin, the reason for this is the competition between departments in Kyiv, which fight with each other and engage in self-PR.
(I.e.
“The main thing for us is, nevertheless, the arbitration in The Hague, which is ongoing. And there Ukraine has one position, and our law enforcement officers, who are now conducting this case in national jurisdiction, unfortunately, in Kyiv have the opposite position.
Unfortunately, we see that it is impossible to reach the Prosecutor General’s Office from Mikhailovskaya Square and coordinate this, this is a problem.
The same thing happened in the SBI investigation into the actions of Ukrainian officials, including the heads of the Navy, and so on - I’m generally silent - this is a separate story.
The main problem here is precisely that we do not have a coordinated position. Various bodies are engaged, including for self-PR, in some actions that are not agreed upon, with very abstract goals and objectives, and the process in The Hague remains a child with seven nannies, each of which cannot give it either evidence or proper legal provision, nor adequate political support. Unfortunately, I have a pessimistic forecast for its results today,” Babin said.
