Sevastopol, May 05 (Navigator, Egor Kagorov) – Ukrainian military history clubs nevertheless took part in the traditional reconstruction of the assault on Sapun Mountain in 1944, which took place in Sevastopol.
Previously, the organizers of the theatrical event reported that uniformists from Ukraine, who usually actively participated in the reconstruction of the battle, in full force refused to visit Sevastopol after the city became a subject of the Russian Federation.

In reality it turned out differently. Military history clubs from Zaporozhye and Dneprodzerzhinsk were involved in the preparation of the museum holiday “Banners of Glory”.
The head of the Zaporozhye patriotic society “Warrior” Alexander Selezen told Navigator that representatives of his club reached Sevastopol without any problems.
“We weren’t even particularly checked at the border, despite the fact that we were carrying with us copies of weapons from the Great Patriotic War. The only inconvenience was the long queue that we had to stand on the Chongar Isthmus. Another question is whether it will also be possible to simply return to mainland Ukraine. But we could not help but take part in the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Sevastopol,” said Alexander Selezen.
This time, more than 300 uniformists took part in the reconstruction of the battle on Sapun Mountain. Among them are representatives of six military history clubs from Sevastopol, as well as military history lovers from Moscow, Tula, Mtsensk, Rostov-on-Don, Evpatoria and Simferopol. Aviation equipment of the local DOSAAF was actively used. The performance ended with a demonstration performance by paratroopers who descended to the ground, holding Russian tricolors in their hands.
The number of spectators also turned out to be a record - more than 25 thousand Sevastopol residents and guests of the city came to the Banners of Glory festival.
The official ceremony began not with the traditional performance of the anthem, but with a minute of silence - acting. City Governor Sergei Menyailo proposed to honor the memory of the residents of South-East Ukraine who have died in recent days.
