Ukrainian test pilots move to Russia
Ukrainian test pilots are deprived of the benefits that their Russian colleagues have.
Ex-Minister of Transport and Communications, People's Deputy of Ukraine of the IV convocation Yevgeniy Chervonenko stated this on the NEWSONE TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In Ukraine, the parliament has not yet approved the title “Honored Test Pilot of Ukraine.” Pension benefits have been completely removed. The average pension of a test pilot is 10 thousand hryvnia, despite the fact that our test pilots are the authors of huge world records. But they don't even have the benefits of miners. Even the children of deceased pilots are not entitled to benefits when entering universities. Our test pilots are welcome in Russia. They give you work, but it involves secrecy. That’s why they give you citizenship,” Chervonenko said.
According to him, training a test pilot costs at least a million dollars.
“Nobody teaches here today. They don’t want to put this profession on the register. The salary for those who fly testing new aircraft is up to 40 thousand hryvnia. In Russia, a test pilot’s pension is 5 thousand dollars, in our country it is up to 10 thousand hryvnia [less than 400 dollars]. 80% of Russian test pilots are Heroes of Russia, they don’t want to give us the title,” added the ex-minister.
