Ukrainian doctors are quitting en masse - no one wants to take risks for pennies
The payments promised by the Ukrainian government to doctors who work with coronavirus patients never reached the doctors.
The head of the Third Sector center, Andrei Zolotarev, stated this in an interview with Politeka Online, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Ordinary doctors are at the end of the food chain. There are also regional players between Kiev and them, they also want to live beautifully. Traditional football begins: I am not me, the cow is not mine. Therefore, it is not surprising that doctors today quit en masse or go on unpaid leave, because no one wants to risk their lives for 4-5 thousand hryvnia a month.
This situation indicates the need to complete decentralization. Once responsibility is transferred to the localities, it should be supported by appropriate financial opportunities,” Zolotarev believes.
