Ivan Dolgikh, a graduate of the Odessa National Maritime Academy, now the commander of the electronic warfare group on the only Ukrainian frigate “Getman Sahaidachny”, stated this in an interview with the Den newspaper.

According to him, in Ukraine too much attention is paid to the Ukrainian military who left Crimea and their exaltation.

“I don’t consider myself a hero for not taking the Russian oath. Heroes are those who are currently fighting in eastern Ukraine, fulfilling their assigned tasks in difficult conditions, and dying for their country. That's what we had to do there... And the fact that the cadets sang the anthem... Yes, in a sense, I agree: this is the only thing they could do. However, I think that this is not worth remembering about it for years. What is important for a military man? Complete the assigned task. It was not very pleasant to go from there so easily. Although, as a military man, I understand perfectly well that nothing could have been done,” Dolgikh said.
