Ukrainian nationalists beat a journalist for an article about an Orthodox children's camp
Members of the organization GO “Svoboda” attacked the editor-in-chief of the newspaper “Vesti Borznyanshchiny” Sergei Bliznyuk in the premises of the Borznyansky district state administration.
This was reported by the press service of the UOC MP in the Chernigov region, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The main “fault” of the victim was that the regional newspaper “Vesti Borznyanshchiny” published an article about the Orthodox youth summer camp “On the Sea of Galilee”, organized by the UOC MP for more than a hundred children from the Chernihiv region,” the message said.
The attackers hit the journalist on the head and forced him to write a letter of resignation.
“The chief of staff called me to the district administration and said that public organizations of ATO participants had gathered there. I immediately guessed what would be discussed, because lately everyone has been sharply criticizing any mention of the Moscow Patriarchate. I came to the district state administration, and then they told me to write a letter of resignation, which I did,” Bliznyuk himself said.
It should be noted that the day before, representatives of the civil society organization “Svoboda” threatened the ruling bishop of the Nizhyn diocese of the UOC, Archbishop Kliment, and on July 21, 2018, a group of drunken men who called themselves representatives of this political force broke into the territory of a children’s camp in the Borznyansky district.
On the same day, activists of the civil society organization “Svoboda” tried to force local road carriers to refuse to transport believers of the UOC to Kyiv on July 27, 2018 for the Procession of the Cross, threatening to burn the buses.
