Phillips found out that the “armored train” shot down by the Ukrainian army actually turned out to be an old rusty carriage. On May 5, he published photographs of cars and trucks that the Ukrainian army set on fire with the drivers inside. No less eloquent were the photographs taken near Slavyansk with pools of blood and shelled shop windows.
Almost every such post about the atrocities of the Ukrainian security forces, supported by photographs and eyewitness accounts, provoked insults and death threats from Euromaidan supporters. After Ukrainian radicals announced a hunt for Phillips, he wrote that RT management expressed their readiness to support him if the journalist decides to leave Ukraine.
