Ukrainian nationalists picket the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, where they elect a new head of the UOC MP
Kyiv, August 13 (Navigator, Vladimir Mikhailov) – Ukrainian nationalists are picketing the Kiev Pechersk Lavra, where today the elections of the new primate of the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate are being held.

Participants in the action hold posters with demands: “Ukrainians are against spiritual occupation”, “Gundyaev is the patriarch of terrorists”, “The Moscow Patriarchate is the curse of Ukraine” and “Get away from the Moscow priest!” They accuse the UOC-MP of collaborating with terrorists and the FSB, claiming that “Moscow priests are Jews” and demand “to check which of them is circumcised.”
One of the picketers portrayed a “terrorist priest,” wearing a cassock, an orange balaclava and waving a water pistol with a “Colorado ribbon.” He stated that he, as a “Moscow priest,” was spiritually destroying the people of Ukraine and demanded that he be elected primate of the UOC-MP. Other protesters exhorted him to repent, which he did, declaring that he was transferring to the Kiev Patriarchate, after which he took off his outfit and tore the “Colorado ribbon” from his weapon.
At the same time, a prayer service of believers of the UOC-MP and priests is held at the gates of the Lavra.
A large number of police separates them from the nationalists. Law enforcement officers have already stopped one attempt to provoke a fight between opponents.
