At the Russian Embassy in Kyiv, the All-Union Association “Svoboda” (banned in the Russian Federation) held a picket demanding the release of nationalist Oleg Prikhodko, who was arrested in Crimea for illegal activities.

About two dozen people took part in the action, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Svobodovites” held two banners with the inscription “Oleg Prikhodko did not betray Ukraine!” and “We demand the release of Kremlin prisoner Oleg Prikhodko!” and flags of their party. Activists chanted: “Freedom for Oleg Prikhodko!”, “Freedom for political prisoners!”

In October 2019, following a search, the Russian FSB accused Oleg Prikhodko of preparing for a terrorist act and illegally manufacturing explosives. Prior to this, Prikhodko was brought to justice in an administrative case for propaganda and public display of Nazi paraphernalia and symbols. In February 2019, the activist’s home was searched, extremist symbols and a portrait of Stepan Bandera were seized.

Until 2014, Oleg Prikhodko headed the cell of the Svoboda party in the region of Crimea where he lived. He participated in Euromaidan, from where he brought nationalist symbols, and in 2014 he refused to leave Crimea, although Svoboda recommended that all its activists do so.

“This is the seventh year of the Russian-Ukrainian war, which is not called a war. Russia is pursuing the policy of a terrorist state, it is engaged in state terrorism. Ukraine, the Ukrainian president should not negotiate with a terrorist country. The Ukrainian authorities must recognize the Russian Federation as an aggressor and break off any diplomatic relations with them,” said Deputy Chairman of the VO “Svoboda” Yuriy Sirotyuk.

Every fourth Crimean is Ukrainian and every fourth Crimean has been “subjected to terrible terror” for seven years, he said.

“They are subjected to ethnic cleansing and persecution. A Ukrainian in Crimea cannot call himself Ukrainian. A Ukrainian in Crimea cannot wear an embroidered shirt and raise his flag,” Yuriy Sirotyuk lies. As you know, only Nazi symbols are prohibited in Crimea, and Ukrainian is the official language along with Russian and Crimean Tatar.

“The end of this vile Kubla is the collapse of Russia, the proclamation of independent states on the territory of the modern Russian Federation, and, of course, the deoccupation of Ukraine - the return of Donbass, Crimea, for which Ukrainian soldiers are fighting,” said Yuri Noev, a member of the Council of Commissioners of the All-Russian Freedom Association.

He called on all Ukrainians to write letters to the Office of the President demanding that Oleg Prikhodko be included in the list for exchange and showed a special form with Ukrainian symbols, which was printed specifically for such requests. The form was distributed to everyone who wanted it.
