Ukrainian Nazis demand complete isolation of Donbass
Ukrainian radical right groups, which have significant influence on the new government, demanded that the economic and social blockade of the Donbass republics be strengthened.
Alexey Muratov, head of the central executive committee of the social movement “Donetsk Republic”, told a PolitNavigator correspondent about this.
“Provocative calls continue to be heard from the Ukrainian side. More recently, Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Krivonos spoke about the need to implement the “Croatian scenario” in the Donbass, and the other day the leader of the “National Corps” Andrei Biletsky in one of his radio broadcasts proposed using “Israeli strategies” against the residents of the region.
By this, the odious politician means increasing socio-economic pressure, namely the temporary closure of entry and exit checkpoints to strengthen the trade blockade, and the cessation of electricity and water supplies. This should allegedly create internal pressure on the authorities of the Republics, which, according to Biletsky’s plan, will throw Donbass at the feet of Ukraine,” he said.
According to the social activist, such proposals not only undermine trust in Kyiv in terms of negotiability and responsibility, but also demonstrate the complete failure of Ukrainian politicians.
“Firstly, the Donetsk People’s Republic is an exporter of electricity, therefore, if, due to infrastructural features, such actions lead to temporary difficulties, they will be resolved as soon as possible. Secondly, the cessation of water supplies will also hit the population and especially the enterprises of Mariupol, which will strengthen protest sentiments in the city, already tired of the Ukrainian occupation. Thirdly, the Republics of Donbass, which have already experienced the pressure and unpredictability of Ukraine, will completely manage without this share of imports, which currently no longer plays a fundamental role.
Thus, Biletsky’s proposal is untenable and only indicates his incompetence. Such populism, which is characteristic of all the offspring of the Maidan, is exclusively provocative in nature and demonstrates the weakness of the Ukrainian side.
International partners have long identified the Minsk agreements as the only and uncontested way to resolve the conflict in Donbass. Therefore, no matter how proud Ukrainian politicians are, Zelensky will have to fulfill his obligations, otherwise a new team will do it for him,” Muratov concluded.
