Ukrainian oligarchs have not yet put their eggs in one basket
Ukrainian oligarchs are still determining which presidential candidates they will support in the upcoming elections, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Political scientist Taras Berezovets stated this on air on the 112 TV channel.
“There are no final decisions yet. Rinat Akhmetov and Igor Kolomoisky have already decided and are funding their candidates. Rinat Akhmetov passionately loves the leader of the liberal party Oleg Lyashko. I think, and not only him. The oligarchs, as always, will minimize risks and finance several candidates,” Berezovets said.
He also suggested that another oligarch Igor Kolomoisky could finance the campaign of showman Vladimir Zelensky.
“Igor Kolomoisky may have a candidate like Vladimir Zelensky. I saw closed polling data: Zelensky is ahead of Tymoshenko in the south. He can really form his own faction in the Verkhovna Rada. I was surprised when I recently saw Zelensky at the American embassy. This means that he is considered a promising candidate,” Berezovets said.
Another representative of the creative intelligentsia, Svyatoslav Vakarchuk, according to the political scientist, will not run in the presidential elections.
