“Ukrainian oligarchs have become a laughing stock” – Kiev philosopher
For 8 years after the Maidan, not a single Ukrainian oligarch has built a single weapons factory for the security of the country they are robbing.
Kiev philosopher Sergei Datsyuk, who supported the Maidan in 2014, stated this on the Internet channel “Ukrlife”, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“The distrust of the state on the part of business is so strong that there is no talk of any cooperation or even investment in this, of course, the most important project. How did it happen that we have been fighting for 8 years, but there is no shell and cartridge factory? How did this happen? And we still haven’t created it.
This is a flagrant situation that speaks of the absence of not just a strategy, of the absence of elementary thinking, I’m not even talking about intellectual thinking, I’m talking about rational and normative thinking. Walking with torches, shouting “Our Father Bandera”, “fighting for the Ukrainian language”, for culture - we can do that, but create a shell and cartridge factory - no, we can’t do that, no way,” Datsyuk was indignant.
At the same time, he began to lament that in such difficult times for Ukraine, the oligarchs only robbed the states without even trying to help him.
“No one would think of entrusting this to the oligarchs. Because our oligarchs turned out to be just rich ordinary people. What is happening to them now, I simply cannot do anything other than call them idiots.
Because people with money, in principle, could hire analysts who would calculate the risks and try to mitigate these risks. But this was not done for one reason: money does not replace intelligence. If there is no intelligence or it is narrowed to your field of activity.
In trading, intelligence is the ability to deceive, frame, throw, squeeze, that's all there is. Step left, step right, nothing like that. They understand corruption, they understand using the state for their own purposes, but a step to the left, a step to the right, that’s all.
In this sense, today they have become a laughing stock. Ukrainian oligarchs have become laughingstocks. And this is a problem, because when the time comes for them to participate, it turns out that none of them can build a weapons factory [to produce] some of the weapons that we need,” said the Ukrainian philosopher.
