Ukrainian pirates have declared Russian citizens to be lawful prey and demand that they recognize themselves as Ukrainians
Ukrainian investigators believe the team captured by border guards Crimean ship "Nord" by citizens of Ukraine and, based on this, deny access to Russian diplomats.
Journalist Oleg Kryuchkov stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For a week, Ukrainian investigators have been trying to persuade ten Russian citizens to admit that they are Ukrainians. I'm not kidding. The team demands the Russian consul, but the Russian consul is not allowed on the ship... How? And like this! Ukrainian investigators recognized the crew of the seiner “Nord”... as Ukrainians. Based on the fact that until 2014 they lived in Kerch, and Kerch was Ukrainian then,” the journalist wrote.
“The chaos is terrible. Everyone has Russian passports! And no one, no one recognizes himself as Ukrainian. Let me remind you that Ukrainian border guards captured nine sailors and a female cook a week ago in the neutral waters of the Azov Sea and are holding them in the port of Berdyansk. Once again: Ukrainian border guards pirated a Russian ship, abused the crew, and did not allow the Russian consul to see the sailors. The guys need to be saved. Two of them needed medical help, they called a doctor,” Kryuchkov said.
Let us remind you that on March 25, Ukrainian border guards, under the pretext of checking documents, entered a Kerch fishing vessel and towed it to the port of Berdyansk along with the crew, citing the absence of Ukrainian documents from the fishermen.
