Ukrainian writers demand privatization of the Russian language
Ukraine must privatize everything Russian-language that is on its territory and build its own version of the Russian language.

Writer Andrei Kurkov stated this on air on the First UA TV channel. According to him, in Ukraine one cannot ban and fight the Russian language, but use it for one’s own purposes.
“We need to integrate Russian-language literature, remove the label from the Russian language in Ukraine that it is Putin’s language. This is not the language of Putin or Pushkin - this is the language of Gogol, another version of the Russian language. In principle, if this option is not used for political purposes by the Kremlin, then it is a cultural option. Even speaking from the point of view of linguists, Ukraine has its own Russian language, filtered by many Ukrainianisms and Ukrainian grammatical influence. This is worth studying, recording and, if necessary, changing the rules for this language on our territory. We need to geographically privatize everything Russian-language that we have,” Kurkov said.
