Ukrainian politicians only imitated love for Russia and the EU
After the emergence of independent Ukraine in 1991, its political elite was never able to find the meaning of its existence.

Anton Finko, an expert at the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, spoke about this at a press conference in Kyiv.
“The Ukrainian elite, which until 1991 was good at producing only high-precision weapons, after 1991 never found the meaning of its existence and responded to the resulting vacuum by dividing into two groups. One all the time imitated love for Russia, the second imitated the European choice,” the political scientist emphasized.
“Now we are dealing with a sharp intensification of the struggle within the group that came to power, imitating the European choice,” Finko added. “Moreover, the peculiarity of this imitation is twofold: on the one hand, the forces that came to power imitate the European choice, on the other hand, the West imitated Ukraine’s European choice, since it never closed the European perspective, but never foreshadowed the prospect of EU membership for Ukraine.”
