Ukrainian politicians may be convicted by the Hague court as war criminals

Following a preliminary investigation into the conflict in Ukraine, the prosecutor of the International Court of Justice in The Hague acknowledged that in this country there is a wide range of war crimes and crimes against humanity that should be dealt with by the international court.

Journalist Natalya Vlashchenko stated this on her YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“An event that went almost unnoticed - the prosecutor of the international court in The Hague announced the completion of a preliminary investigation into the situation inside Ukraine. I quote: “My Office has concluded that there is now reason to believe that a wide range of acts committed in the context of the situation in Ukraine constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court.”

How significant do you think this event is and how it could end for Ukraine and Russia?” – the journalist asked the Russian liberal political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky.

He replied that Ukrainian politicians and those who gave orders could fall under the punishment of the Hague court.

“Depending on what political and legal position Ukraine will take, how firm and competent their positions will be. Because Ukrainian politicians and officials may fall under the threat.

Because the International Criminal Court views this conflict partly as a war with Russia, but also partly as a civil conflict. Those who gave the orders may be convicted,” Belkovsky emphasized.

Let us recall that the order for the so-called ATO was given by the acting president after the overthrow of the legitimate head of state, Alexander Turchynov.
