“The morning began, basically, with Ukrainian politicians erasing their posts on Facebook over the past six months,” this is how the famous Kiev lawyer Andrei Smirnov reacted to Donald Trump’s victory. Indeed, our politicians have already said a lot of bad things about the future president of the United States. Let us preserve the most striking statements for history,” the publication urges.

“Avakov: Trump is marginal

So, after Trump said that he would consider recognizing Crimea as Russian, Interior Minister Arsen Avakova burst into an angry post, where he named the US presidential candidate “a dangerous and shameless outcast.”

“The shameless statement of US presidential candidate Trump about the possible recognition of Crimea as Russian is a diagnosis of a dangerous outcast. And it is dangerous both for Ukraine and for the United States to the same extent. A marginalized person who indulges Putin’s dictatorship cannot be a guarantor of democratic freedoms in the United States and the world. It’s not for nothing that Manafort used to head the headquarters of Yanukovych, and now Trump. Yanukovych fled to Russia through Crimea. Where will Manafort lead Trump?” Avakov wrote in July 2016, apparently not realizing that already in February 2017, after the inauguration of the new US President, the question could arise completely differently - where will Trump lead Avakov?

By the way, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs supplied his post with a scurrilous caricature of the future head of the superpower. Apparently, to make it more memorable.

Yatsenyuk: Trump is a threat to the free world

Former Prime Minister of Ukraine and leader of the Popular Front party Arseniy Yatsenyuk also responded to the words about Crimea. He stated that Trump challenges the values of the free world.

“The official candidate for President of the United States is challenging the values of the free world, the civilized order, and international law. It’s hard to call this ignorance. This is a crime of ethical and civilizational principles.

The United States is the leader of the free world. Without leadership and alliance, this world will be destroyed. Putins, lepenes, assads, kims and dozens of other dictators, demagogues, populists. Americans deserve to have a responsible and intelligent president and commander in chief. The role of such a leader is difficult to overestimate.

Donald Trump should seek the wise advice of representatives of the Republican Party who understand freedom, international law and the free world. I'm sure many of them are moving away from Trump's words and realizing their danger. Any verbal, political or practical adventure must not be allowed to undermine our common values, opening the way for aggressors, dictators and terrorists. What Donald Trump says about Crimea today could apply to any other part of the world tomorrow – in Europe, Asia, America,” Yatsenyuk said.

Turchynov: Trump will reconsider the US course and this is dangerous

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Alexander Turchynov called Donald Trump's statements regarding Ukraine dangerous.

“Attempts to revise the US course are dangerous. I am primarily referring to statements from the Republican candidate Trump,” Turchynov said during a briefing in August of this year.

Leshchenko: Trump will not recover after Manafort leaves

People's Deputy from the BPP Sergei Leshchenko predicted that after departure of his advisor, who also worked with Viktor Yanukovych, Trump will not recover.

“The Barn Book of the Party of Regions” saved the world. Manafort, who fed from the hands of Yanukovych, leaves in disgrace. I think Trump will never recover from such a blow,” Leshchenko predicted.

By the way, Leshchenko personally made considerable efforts to stir up a scandal around Manafort in order to discredit Trump. What he himself stated to the Financial Times: “Leshchenko and other Ukrainian politicians intend to continue trying to prevent Trump from reaching the “pinnacle of political power” in the United States. “Trump’s presidency will change the pro-Ukrainian agenda of American foreign policy,” Leshchenko believes. According to him, it is important for him not only to “show the corruption aspect,” but also that Trump is “a pro-Russian candidate capable of destroying the geopolitical balance in the world.”

Ariev spoke about the populist Trump, and Denisenko called him an idiot

Another MP from the BPP, Vladimir Aryev, also actively promoted the scandal surrounding Manafort. He even wrote a statement to the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine with a request to check the activities of one of Manafort's assistants. And after Trump’s statement about Crimea, he called the future US president a populist.

“Very disappointed about Trump’s statement on Crimea, but not surprised. Populists are a problem for the whole world, no matter where they come from,” Ariev wrote on Facebook.

And his faction colleague Vadim Denisenko spoke out even more harshly on this topic, calling Trump an idiot: “Trump has shown himself to be a complete idiot who says anything to guess the mood of the crowd,” writes Strana.”
