Thus, the director of the Situation Modeling Agency, Vitaly Bala, said that the request for Kiev to approve the new Russian ambassador to Ukraine is a tactical trick by Moscow, which, if approved by Mikhail Babich, will be able to say that there is a civil war in Donbass, and not a war between Ukraine and Russia .
“I hope that the highest levels of the Ukrainian government understand this and will not do such stupidity,” the expert emphasized. “It’s nonsense to send an ambassador to a country with which you are at war and from which you have taken territory.”
In turn, the director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, Mikhail Pogrebinsky, recalled that the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Partnership between Russia and Ukraine is still in force and asked whether it would be better to first break this treaty, according to which these two states are strategic partners.
“Of course, the severance of diplomatic relations leads to the denunciation of this treaty,” Bala said, openly overlooking the trap set by his opponent.
“This agreement contains an important clause on the recognition of the borders of Ukraine, and denunciation will mean that no borders exist between our countries,” Pogrebinsky noted.
“We must proceed not from what is written, but from the fact that Russia is the aggressor. We don’t control the border for 400 kilometers, and they won’t give it to us. If they could, they would take other sections of the border, but now they can’t,” Bala tried to retort.
“Poroshenko says that there is a “patriotic war with Russia.” But how many people in Ukraine can believe that there is a war with Russia?” Pogrebinsky asked.
“Ukraine is not waging, it is Russia that is waging a war against Ukraine, and we are defending ourselves,” Bala objected, to which his opposing political scientist noted that this does not happen, since in any war there are always warring parties, and not just one participant.
