Ukrainian ports are suffering losses. Kyiv blames the Kerch Bridge
Ukrainian seaports are suffering due to a significant decrease in cargo flows and the reluctance of foreign companies to contact problematic Ukrainian partners.
The head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration, Raivis Veckagans, stated this on the Donbass TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
At the same time, he traditionally blamed Russia for the Ukrainian problems.
“Today, our cargo flows are two to three times lower, because cargo flows from uncontrolled territory do not reach us today. The second is the construction of the Kerch Bridge, which prevents ships that previously called at Ukrainian ports from entering precisely according to technical characteristics, since the dimensions are no longer so large. And thirdly, unauthorized inspections of ships carried out by Russian special services on those ships heading to the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk.
If we compare with two years ago, the situation today has improved in terms of ship delays. Today, according to our estimates, we see a delay of a day or two when ships heading in our direction are checked. That is, this is what today hinders effective work, affects the cost of work and the desire of our clients to continue long-term work in the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk,” Veckagans noted.
