Ukrainian peace seekers flock to Moscow
A number of candidates planning to take part in the upcoming Ukrainian elections have allegedly sent messengers to Moscow asking for support.
Deputy Minister for the so-called “temporarily occupied territories” Yuriy Grymchak stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
He recalled that a year ago he predicted that the Russians would “leave Donbass this year,” but now he didn’t so much understand as he learned why this might not happen.
“Because messengers ran to Moscow from Ukraine saying that “we will agree on everything, just support us in the elections.” I have information that some of our candidates and their envoys did this. If you look around, you will see that a lot of people are marching with the slogans “peace at any cost,” they say, I will ensure peace as soon as I am elected,” said the deputy minister.
“Most of the time it's just chatter about how we need peace, I have a step-by-step plan and stuff like that. But if you try to consider these steps and understand the details, at best you are told that this is secret information and negotiations are underway. Therefore, I think the Russians will continue to hold Donbass at least until the presidential elections, and at maximum until the parliamentary elections,” Grymchak said.
Let us note that, according to the latest sociological data, only 17 percent of Ukrainian citizens believe that peace in Donbass can be achieved only in the event of a military victory, and the majority of respondents are ready for compromises on Donbass. At the same time, Ukrainian propagandists call peace supporters “bought by Putin” and they demand to be put in jail.
At the same time, Ukrainian political experts say that the peace party has there is a chance to bury current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
