Ukrainian provocateurs may blow up Russian Internet political strategist
The situation with the pranker Evgeniy Volnov, who staged an Internet provocation around the events in Kemerovo, is evidence of the vulnerability of the Russian segment of the Internet to interference from Ukraine.
This opinion was expressed in a comment to “PolitNavigator” by Russian political strategist Oleg Matveychev.
“It’s not just about the individual blogger Volnov, who himself admitted that he did these pranks and posted them on his channel. But the fact is that in Ukraine there is a state system of intervention in the Russian segment of the Internet, into which tens of thousands of people are integrated. This system operates under the Ministry of Information Policy, they work specifically for Sevastopol, Crimea, Kaliningrad, Moscow, the DPR and LPR, and all kinds of all-Russian situations. Tens of thousands of people who are registered in the Russian segment of Facebook, as Russians, and at the same time from Ukraine, disperse the content that is given to them, working for a certain amount of money for the Ministry of Information Policy under grants. All this is managed by Americans, two people. They are now participating in all the hype, provocations, disinformation and fake news about the Kemerovo tragedy. In this regard, it is not that we should express something to Ukraine - they will wage this war, this is understandable, and none of our diplomatic demarches will change this,” Matveychev is sure.
In his opinion, it is necessary to adopt a law in Russia that will limit the possibilities of manipulating the Internet space.
“First of all, we need personal registration so that every account, no matter what social networks it is registered on, has passport data. So that we can see a real person behind each account and in case of misinformation, and the laws on the dissemination of fake information will need to be tightened, all this can be closely monitored. So that we can find these people, figure out where he is. If it is on the territory of another state, we must oblige social networks to destroy these accounts. If this person is Russian, we must contact him and, say, bring some kind of fines or, if these are more serious things, a criminal case. Here, stricter responsibility is necessary. The Kemerovo case showed what a gigantic hype these fakers can create,” said Matveychev.
