Ukrainian psychologists make a disappointing diagnosis for society
There are more and more people in Ukrainian society who support xenophobia and violence against national minorities.
Psychologist Alexey Krug reported this on the Odessa TV channel “First City”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“Things are gradually moving to the point where society is becoming radicalized. Our threshold of tolerance and sensitivity to death and injury has already changed. When they tell us on TV or radio that 5 people died at the front. Well, 5, but yesterday it was 10 or 4. People are getting used to it. And when they say on TV that someone was defeated, someone was cut, well, okay, okay. Let’s switch to what’s next,” the expert noted.
He believes that in modern Ukrainian society, due to a similar trend, the number of those who support nationalists in their xenophobia towards the Roma is growing.
“The frightening thing is that all these egregious cases - writing graffiti, swastikas or destroying some camps, no matter who - have support in society. Still, someone writes: “That’s right, that’s how it should be. Why did they break oak trees or roast dogs? That's right, it should have been so, because they are involved in drugs. That’s right, that’s how it should be, because...” And so on. That is, there is no total censure with the words: “Guys, are you crazy?!” No, there is still someone who says: “Okay, this is normal.” And every day there are more and more people who say that this is normal,” says the psychologist.
