This was stated in an interview with Izvestia by the Secretary of State - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Grigory Karasin, according to whom, the situation in Donbass remains difficult, but thanks to a consistent line of implementation of the Minsk agreements of 2015, it was possible to achieve a cessation of large-scale hostilities there.
“Unfortunately, recently we have witnessed high-profile political crimes in Donbass,” the publication’s interlocutor emphasized. – In July, there was a daring attempt on the life of the leader of the Lugansk Republic, Igor Plotnitsky, and recently an explosion in a residential building in Donetsk claimed the life of one of the prominent representatives of the Donetsk militia - Arsen Pavlov, better known under the call sign Motorola, as well as his bodyguard. According to information from law enforcement agencies in Donetsk and Lugansk, Ukrainian sabotage groups acted in both cases.”
“Whoever was behind the organization of these crimes, he pursued a completely obvious goal - to intimidate the population of Donbass, force them to capitulate. In this sense, Kyiv is showing amazing consistency and perseverance, worthy of better use on the track of a peaceful settlement. Only the tactics of the Ukrainian security forces have changed. Now, apparently, they have switched to terrorist methods of combating the dissent of their citizens,” Karasin concluded.
