Ukrainian security forces admitted that they are terribly afraid of right-wing radicals
The criminal investigation into the Odessa nationalist Sergei Sternenko, who during “self-defense” ran a hundred meters behind the attacker and killed him, is being slowed down due to potential mass protests.
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are talking about where there was an attempt on Mr. Sternenko’s life, where he indicated that there were attacks and Kuznetsov himself has already been killed as a person who, as Mr. Sternenko says, attempted on his life, and it was an attempt, it’s all in one in fact. It is necessary to investigate comprehensively... It is necessary to investigate both the assassination attempt and the murder - this is one thing, in one case it all needs to be revealed.
Nobody wants justice, everyone wants their own truth. I hope that you will not change your mind later when you receive it (justice) ... I will not hype - this is a matter of a very short period of time. I just want you to remember this later and emphasize that you see what is happening around this matter now.
The pre-trial investigation, even when there are suspicions, will still continue. But I want to warn that later this matter, no matter how it turned out, did not become the valve that would open for mass protests. No matter how it happens. This does not scare me, we will still give it away, but from all absolutely reliable operational sources it turns out that no matter how the case is presented by prosecutors and investigators, and in our country prosecutors and investigators themselves are independent procedural subjects, no matter what decisions they present, this case could become an impetus for mass protests,” Venediktova said.
