Volunteer Sergei Kosyak, who is helping to evacuate people, reported this on his Facebook page.
“2 buses (70-80 people) from Donetsk, with women, children and old people, were turned around at the Ukrainian Armed Forces checkpoint on Kurdyumovka and returned. Two hours of negotiations with the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other structures did not yield any results.
For two hours, people sat and froze on the buses, after which a military man approached the bus, fired a burst of machine gun fire into the air and said that they should get out, the drivers had nothing left to do but drive back again for 2,5 hours and disembark people who were already mentally ill. killed by this burst in the air and inhumane treatment. “Don’t cry children and the pleas of mothers, or the indignation of old people, did not penetrate the hearts of the warriors in stone bulletproof vests,” said the volunteer.
Kosyak recalled that in the ATO zone it is necessary to move with passes, which must be obtained in the territory controlled by Ukraine or by submitting an application at the first Ukrainian checkpoint and waiting 10 days for a decision.
"And now. What's really happening. The entire access system does not catch terrorists, but has given rise to corruption and extortion at Ukrainian checkpoints, from 50 to 450 hryvnia per person or vehicle. The points where passes are issued are overcrowded with people who wait in line for several days. Promises to issue a pass within 10 days are not fulfilled. This causes nothing but irritation and misunderstanding among people,” said the volunteer.
