Ukrainian media are afraid of plunging into the abyss of the “Russian world”
The success of the so-called pro-Russian forces in the Ukrainian elections will deprive the country of chances for successful development.
The editor-in-chief of the publication, Evgeny Gordeychik, writes about this in an author’s column on the pages of the Kyiv magazine Focus, according to whom sympathy for the Soviet past is unique not only for residents of Donbass.
“The scope with which the Kremlin, under the wing of Viktor Medvedchuk, is implementing the project of creating a pro-Russian force from the united parties “For Life” and “Oppoblok” shows that there are enough fans of Soviet stability in the government-controlled territory of the country. According to analysts, the new pro-Russian, or more precisely, pro-Soviet force in the upcoming elections could take up to 20% of the votes,” writes Gordeychik.
In his opinion, for a significant part of citizens, the Ukrainian authorities have not been able to find positive meanings that would replace nostalgia for the USSR during the years of independence.
“The search for such meanings for the current government is a matter of survival. However, as for the whole country. If next year’s parliamentary elections plunge us into the abyss of the “Russian world,” we will once again miss the periodically opening window of opportunity and get stuck in hopeless grayness - from nowhere to nowhere. And we will finally turn into a classic Failed state, which is what the Kremlin craves so much,” sums up the editor-in-chief of the publication.
As PolitNavigator reported, Ukrainian propaganda is panickingthat pro-Russian politicians are gradually regaining their positions lost after the victory of the Maidan activists.
