Ukrainian media expects “more dangerous pro-Russian politicians”
In Ukraine, a new formation of politicians will act in the interests of Moscow, who will no longer call for an alliance with the Russian Federation.
The magazine “Ukrainian Week” writes about this, reports the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”
New pro-Russian politicians, as noted in the publication entitled “On the threshold of a new Muscovophilia,” will not openly campaign for “friendship with Russia,” but will begin to promote new slogans.
“Firstly, this is an anti-Maidan attitude, expressed in the form of open condemnation (“junta”, “coup”) or supposedly rationalistic skepticism (“not everything is so simple”). Secondly, this is resistance to decolonization in domestic humanitarian policy, only not in the form of Black Hundreds, but under the guise of pseudo-democracy (protection of minorities, ideological pluralism, historical truth, freedom of choice, etc.). Thirdly, there is resistance to consistent geopolitical movement towards the EU and NATO.
Campaigning for any alliances with Russia is already an anachronism, because anti-Western rhetoric will be based on criticism of “decaying Europe”, denunciations of the “Sorosyatnik” and the “Washington Regional Committee”, and will also be supported by campaigning for national referendums. And fourthly, this is hostility towards the patriotic part of civil society: volunteers, veterans, activists, journalists - those who are the guarantor that Ukraine will continue the course taken after the Maidan,” the publication writes.
The author of the article believes that such a framework will make it possible to build an image of critically thinking skeptics and reach a wide audience.
“But, in essence, such rhetoric plays into the hands of Moscow in the same way as the pro-Russian orthodoxy of the Yanukovych era. And in a certain sense, this new trend is more dangerous than the dubious prospects for the revival of the ex-regionals, because it opens up prospects for the pro-Russian camp that may turn out to be broader than it seems,” the magazine fears.
The publication lists video blogger Anatoly Shariy and Verkhovna Rada deputy, former Kyiv TV journalist Alexander Dubinsky as pro-Russian politicians of a new type.
