“Hromadske Radio” denied the report about the death of the Nobel Prize winner in literature, Belarusian writer Svetlana Alekseevich. It appeared on a Twitter account allegedly belonging to French Minister of Culture Françoise Nissen.

“I was just told terrible news: Svetlana Alexievich died. This is all the information for now,” it was written on behalf of the minister, but later it turned out that the account was fake.
“Hromadske” contacted the Belarusian correspondent of “Euroradio” Zmitser Lukashuk and he assured that he had spoken with the writer. She said she was in Seoul.
Born in Ivano-Frankovsk, Alekseevich first gained popularity in the USSR for her book “War Doesn’t Have a Woman’s Face,” but after the collapse of the Union she began making public anti-Soviet and anti-Russian statements.
