In the French presidential elections, the second round of which will take place on May 7, there is still a chance of victory for the National Front candidate Marine Le Pen, who will be opposed by the globalists’ protege Emmanuel Macron, writes the Ukrainian Week magazine.

The publication notes that Macron perceived entering the second round as if the presidency was guaranteed to him, given that he was supported by the majority of other candidates, and sociologists predict at least 60 percent for Macron in the second round.

“Is victory guaranteed? There is no definite certainty. First, voters do not always comply with the guidelines of their candidates, in particular when they vote tactically rather than ideologically. By the way: 8% of Hamon voters and 33% Fillon are going to support Le Pen. Secondly, Mélenchon and his “unconquered” declared a policy of ignoring the second round and even launched the hashtag “May 7 without me.” The voters of sovereignist Nicolas Dupont-Aignan are gathering around Le Pen, although he himself does not clearly say how he plans to vote. She was openly supported by the founder of the Christian Democrats, former minister Christine Boutin,” the magazine writes.

The publication recalls that the decades-old collective boycott tactic of “Anyone but the National Front candidate” had previously worked.

“Will it work on May 7? Is not a fact. The choice of Mélenchon, who essentially broke the taboo of the “Republican Front” and did not oppose Le Pen’s candidacy, became a precedent. On the night after the first round, he turned out to be the only powerful candidate who did not give his voters an indication for the second,” UT reports, specifying that Melenchon eventually called for a boycott of the elections.

“In 1998, the centrist Union for French Democracy party fired former Defense Minister Charles Millon from its ranks for an alliance with the National Front during the election of the chairman of the council of the Rhône-Alpes region. Then the practice of the “Republican Front” began to crack for the first time and it was a big political scandal. Now the blow dealt by Mélenchon to the tradition of collective opposition to the Lepenites could prove fatal,” the publication fears.

“22,23% of the French ignored the first round - almost the same number as voted for Macron, Le Pen, Fillon or Mélenchon. If the extreme left reduces participation in elections by another 10-20%, this will primarily shake Macron’s position. His own 24%, two-thirds of Fillon's votes, three-quarters of Hamon's supporters... This is a solid core that Macron can count on with his eyes closed. The calculation does not bring us to a comfortable 60%. The position of the far left, which raises street riots and storm attacks on social networks against the “dominance of the oligarchy,” is essentially useful for Le Pen, who also calls the EU flag an “oligarchic rag,” the magazine writes.

At the same time, the author of the publication recalls that Melenchon calls the Maidan a “Nazi gathering”, defines the current government in Kiev as “putschists and adventurers under neo-Nazi influence”, considers Boris Nemtsov a “political bandit” and refuses to criticize Putin, but at the same time receives wide support for the French, in particular for students.

In addition, the article assumes that the course of the elections may be influenced by the Russian special services and the inevitable portions of compromising material on Macron.

“Macron has very good chances, but there is no guarantee of victory,” the Ukrainian magazine concludes.

As PolitNavigator reported, experts paid attention to sociological data, according to which Le Pen’s electorate would prefer to vote in the second round for the left-wing radical Mélenchon rather than the right-wing Fillon.
