Ukrainian media: the “Shatun” plan is back
The “Opposition Bloc” and the “For Life” party are uniting because the businessmen of these political forces received an ultimatum from the Kremlin.
The Ukrainian publication “Mirror of the Week” writes about this today.
“Medvedchuk allegedly brought an ultimatum from Moscow - intractable “blue and white” politicians and businessmen will be included in the sanctions list and will not be able to make money in Russia or with Russia. And this hurts,” the publication writes.
The return of Viktor Medvedchuk to public political life, according to Zerkalo Nedeli, is part of the Kremlin’s Shatun project. Let us recall that the Ukrainian media wrote about the existence of such a plan back in 2016, then hackers from the Cyberjunta group announced that they had opened the mail of the assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Vladislav Surkov.
“The potential electorate of forces socially close to the Kremlin makes up at least a third of the total number of voters in Ukraine. This is not enough to bring in a president completely loyal to Moscow. But with a properly thought-out game, it is enough to bring “your” candidate to the second round. And this, in turn, is a good basis for trying to form “our own” majority in the Rada,” the article says.
The united opposition, “on instructions from the Kremlin,” should receive 30-35% in the parliamentary elections, and then a majority in the new Rada.
However, as Zerkalo Nedeli believes, Ukrainian oppositionists are not delighted with Moscow’s plans.
“I admit that Boyko doesn’t mind being second at all. But only in a nightmare does he see himself as the first in this country and at this time. And for most “opposition bloc members,” the sleepy opposition is much nicer than the need to take even part of the responsibility for what is happening. For Akhmetov, what is important is not power, but his place in it, in any situation and in any configuration. He makes money with Poroshenko, shares with Groysman, invests in Lyashko, invests in Vilkul, and circles around Tymoshenko. He believes that he will find his “Kryzhopol plus” under any government. And he certainly won’t become deformed for the sake of an illusory super-task—a pro-Russian majority in the Rada,” concludes the author of the article, Sergei Rakhmanin.
