The Kiev online newspaper reports this, citing its sources in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. "Country".
According to the publication’s interlocutors, intense artillery shelling in the area of Gorlovka, Pervomaisk, Stakhanov, Novoluganskoye, which began on the night of December 18, became only new outbreaks, and artillery duels in the area of the suburban Donetsk village of Peski, in the industrial zone of Avdeevka and on the Svetlodar Bulge have not stopped third week.
Ukrainian officers said: that in fact the escalation began after the command of the headquarters of the so-called ATO significantly strengthened the Ukrainian positions with new units and equipment.
“From the moment the Ukrainian Armed Forces occupied Travnevoe and Gladosovo on November 24–25, everything began. After this, our command deployed several large special forces units to the Gorlovka direction. Initially there was a plan for a powerful breakthrough in the Gorlovka direction. However, the information “leaked”, no order was received to advance further, they limited themselves to clearing out the “gray” zones. Information that new units had arrived at positions on the Ukrainian side immediately reached the separatists. From that side they immediately began to fire at the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, where the reinforcement was approximately located. Ours responded with large-caliber fire at the separatist positions. As a result, a chain reaction began, which is already difficult to stop,” said an officer from one of the units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Currently, special forces units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have been withdrawn from the front line to the second echelon of defense, but those brigades that are on the front line have been put on high alert.
