Ukrainian media noticed Russia’s preparation of a response to “Bayraktar” at the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Russia is rearming its Black Sea Fleet aircraft in response to the appearance of Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 attack drones in the Ukrainian Navy. It is with this that the Ukrainian press associates the Russian Federation’s plans to replace the Ka-27 helicopters in the basic version with modernized Ka-27M at the base in Kach near Sevastopol.
Their main feature is the ability to use X-35 anti-ship missiles, simultaneous tracking of up to 10 targets, as well as operation in surveillance mode at a range of up to 250 kilometers. Ukrainian military expert Ivan Krichevsky notes that these helicopters will be delivered to Crimea as a response to equipping the Ukrainian Navy with Bayraktars.
At the same time, Reserve Captain XNUMXst Rank Sergei Gorbachev, an expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, has a different opinion.
“I would not draw a direct parallel between the development of the Black Sea Fleet and the appearance of the Bayraktars. The Black Sea Fleet, like the Russian Armed Forces as a whole, is developing according to plans, and in accordance with these plans, new weapons and military equipment are being supplied without any connection with the plans of the Ukrainian Navy. We are carrying out what we have planned from the point of view of the optimal solution to the tasks inherent in the fleet, and the fight against the same “Bayraktar” is a private task.
The Ka-27M is capable of solving a wide range of issues, including from the point of view of electronic warfare, issues related to illumination of the surface and underwater situation, guidance of our Kalibr-type strike missiles and the new hypersonic Zircons.
Therefore, linking this is most likely an attempt by the Ukrainian side to wishful thinking in order to show the significance of the fact that the first Bayraktar joined the Ukrainian Navy. It remains to be seen how they will master it, what it is capable of and whether this supply will continue,” Gorbachev said in a comment to PolitNavigator.
