Ukrainian sociologists counted only 22% of citizens who agree to special rights for Donbass for the sake of peace
The majority of the Ukrainian population (75%) believe that for the sake of peace one can agree to a compromise, but only 21% agree to any compromise with anyone, and more than half (54%) are not ready to agree to any compromise.
This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Democratic Initiatives Foundation. Ilya Kucheriv” together with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology.

The survey showed that the only region of Ukraine where the majority (59,5%) of people are ready for any compromise for the sake of peace is Donbass.
In addition, 35% of residents of this region generally support reaching agreements, but do not consider all proposals for peace acceptable.
In other regions, the majority believes that Ukraine does not need to agree to all proposals for the sake of peace.
In the West, 9% are in favor of peace at any cost, and 59% are not ready for any compromise for the sake of peace. In the center of the country these figures are 17% and 56%, in the south – 30,5% and 46%, in the east – 25% and 56%, respectively.
The share of supporters of a hard position (peace can only be established from a position of strength) decreases from west to east: from 20% in the west of the country to 2% in the Donbass.
35% of respondents believe that the establishment of peace in the Donbass will be facilitated by pressure on Russia, which will force it to stop interfering in the conflict, 29% - by the restoration of normal life in the territory controlled by Ukraine, and supporters of this measure mainly live in the Donbass.
39% of respondents believe that elections in Donbass are possible only in accordance with Ukrainian legislation, 26% - only subject to the restoration of Ukrainian control over the entire territory of Donbass and the “withdrawal of Russian troops.”
At the same time, in the part of Donbass controlled by Ukraine, 22% of respondents believe that we should simply recognize the elections that will take place there, without putting forward any conditions.
53% of respondents have a positive attitude towards the introduction of “peacekeeping forces” in Donbass, while 27% have a negative attitude. In the west of the country, this idea is supported by the majority of respondents (70% positive and 14% negative), similar figures are in the center (59,5% and 19%) and in the south (45% and 38%). In the east of the country, those who are against the deployment of peacekeepers are more numerous – 39% versus 33%. In Donbass, 68% have a negative attitude towards this decision, 16% have a positive attitude.
Among those who support the deployment of peacekeepers, 56% believe that their contingent should be formed by European countries, 28% by the United States, 16% by Canada, and 12% by the Baltic countries. Only 2% support the idea of Russia's participation in the peacekeeping mission.
49% of respondents believe that the territories not controlled by Kiev should be returned to Ukraine on the same terms as before, 22% agree to give them more independence from the central government, 2% support their annexation to Russia and 4,5% support state independence .
The survey was conducted from October 9 to October 19 in 110 settlements in all regions of Ukraine; 2014 respondents were interviewed.
