Ukrainian intelligence services used Voronenkov as a fake agent
The murder of ex-State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov in the center of Kyiv played into the hands of the Ukrainian special services, even if they were not involved in the murder.

More about this in the second part interview Moskovsky Komsomolets was told by illegal intelligence officer of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Alexander Sharkevich, who had previously reported Voronenkov's connections with Ukrainian intelligence services.
“Voronenkov condemned himself from the very moment he began to aggressively issue these passages against Russia everywhere. Let's not forget that there are forces in Ukraine that are not controlled by anyone. The radicals might have wanted to present this story very harshly; there was an excellent reason to kill Voronenkov, whom they did not like from the first day. Who dealt with such a fierce oppositionist to the regime? Of course, the Kremlin. Why were they killed? For the truth and in revenge for the others! Simple and naive logic, but someone could go this route,” the publication’s interlocutor believes.
At the same time, he is convinced that the murdered ex-deputy could not have known anything about the Yanukovych case, as stated in Ukraine.
“You need to understand the specifics of the work of intelligence services. It is very important not to expose the real source of information; special measures are taken when it is necessary to legalize important information received, but at the same time not to frame the person who really gave it. Therefore, there are always fake agents, as well as leak channels, including through the media. So Voronenkov was needed there in order to procedurally consolidate some information about Yanukovych at the trial, already known to the intelligence services. This is common practice,” Sharkevich noted.
“Now, on behalf of Voronenkov, you can announce anything you want. He will be absent from the Yanukovych trial for a very good reason. Because he's dead. And the testimony that he gave or allegedly gave, due to force majeure circumstances, can no longer be changed. You couldn't imagine anything better, a perfect witness. I don’t think that the Ukrainian special services killed him, and even so, but this death came in handy for them,” says the officer.
He also said that with the kind of security that was provided to Voronenkov, he could be “calmly eliminated in any gateway.”
