Ukrainian special services have again taken up the case of the murder of Sarmatian "atoshnik"
The State Bureau of Investigation opened criminal proceedings into the actions of police officers who probably knew about the preparation of the high-profile murder of Berdyansk ATO veteran Vitaly “Sarmat” Oleshko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
First Deputy Director of the SBI Olga Varchenko reported this on Facebook.
“Today they opened criminal proceedings on the fact of possible unlawful actions of police officers, who probably knew about the preparation of the murder of Vitaly Oleshko (call sign “Sarmat”), a social activist and ATO veteran, but hid this fact and did not warn him,” Varchenko wrote.
The proceedings, according to her, were registered on the fact of concealing a particularly serious crime and abuse of official position.
“During the pre-trial investigation, investigators need to find out whether the National Police officers actually knew about the preparations for the murder of the activist. This can be evidenced by recordings of telephone conversations of murder suspects, which were at the disposal of law enforcement officers. However, they did not take measures provided for by law to prevent this crime.
A pre-trial investigation was launched under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or official position) and Art. 396 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (concealing a crime),” noted Varchenko.
Let us remind you that “Sarmat” was killed on July 31, 2018 in a courtyard in Berdyansk in front of his wife and friend. An unknown person entered the hotel territory and fired two shots. The police detained former Tornado battalion fighter Artem Matyushin, head of the construction company NK Promstroy Nikolai Lomaka, 39-year-old Alexander Obukhov and Maxim Volodymirenkov, suspected of committing the crime. According to law enforcement officers, it was these people who came to “Sarmat”’s house, watched him and shot him. Subsequently, on suspicion of organizing the murder of Vitaly Oleshko, local businessman Mikhail Sigida was detained in Berdyansk, Viktor Vlasyuk was detained in Lvov, and Yevgeny Brodsky was detained in Dnieper.
The police stated that the arrest of those who ordered the murder in the Sarmat case was a matter of time.
